With dozens of successful projects under its belt and proven experience in the digitalisation of training content, Skillsday is one of Teach on Mars’ flagship partners for the creation of mobile learning solutions.
In partnership with Ayming, a Paris- and Grenoble-based start-up who are experts in HR Performance, Skillsday will this month be launching a brand new mobile training programme entitled “Recruit without discrimination”.
This programme has been developed as a direct result of the new equality and citizenship law that came into force in January 2017, and which among its many provisions includes a new requirement that any individual involved in the activity of recruitment receive appropriate formal training in non-discriminatory recruitment practices.
The app includes around twenty learning activities designed to give the learner clear operational insight into the 22 discrimination criteria identified by the law. It also provides practical guidance and best practices for successful and compliant recruitment interviews via concrete examples and detailed methodologies.
The main objective? Embed non-discriminatory recruitment techniques and improve efficiency at each stage of the recruitment process. It was also a clear intention that the solution help recruiters make the mindset shift required to transform a potential constraint into a genuine opportunity to enhance performance. The challenge was ambitious, but the instructional design teams at Skillsday and the Ayming experts have more than risen to the task.
We particularly like:
- clean graphics and seamlessly integrated motion design,
- resolutely upbeat and dynamic tone,
- ultra-clear architecture enabling the learner to zero in at once on the critical questions,
- real-world examples to illustrate each situation,
- check-lists to find key information quickly and easily,
- practical tools for immediate application, such as templates and sample grids.
5 questions to David Reymond, Associate Director at Skillsday :
1/ What’s the target population for this app?
We’re looking to address any and all employees likely to be involved in the recruitment process. More specifically, the target is those employees working for organisations of more than 300 staff, where this training has now become a legal requirement.
2 / Why this topic?
First and foremost, it’s about enabling our clients to obtain compliance with the new legislation, which includes a legal requirement to train staff in non-discriminatory recruitment techniques. Beyond that, our conviction is that compulsory training can also be compelling, engaging and elegantly designed! And that’s where mobile learning in our opinion really makes sense.
3 / Tell us about the subject-matter experts you worked with for the content.
We’re very proud of the exclusive partnership agreement we have with Ayming for all Human Resources-related topics. They provide the original idea, the expertise and the content you see in “Recruit Without Discrimination”, which we see as the first of a whole series of off-the-shelf HR learning programmes.
We’re already close to completing other modules on subjects including Workplace Health, Labour Relations and Wellbeing in the Workplace.
Once Ayming provide the content, our Skillsday digital learning expertise and the power and flexibility of the Teach on Mars platform do the rest!
4 / What were the main challenges you faced as you were developing the solution?
Staying consistently focused on our primary objective and underlying fundamental message: the transformation of an apparent constraint into a genuine opportunity to enhance performance using a microlearning format that’s engaging and fun.
5 / And how do you rank at Skillsday? Is your recruitment “benchmark standard”?
Let’s just say that working on this project enabled us to identify some key areas for improvement! We became much more aware that there are certain questions that shouldn’t be asked in a recruitment process because they are not at all “innocent” and could even be discriminatory. And now that we’ve been trained ourselves, we’ll certainly be much more vigilant in the future!
This training programme is available via the M Learning app, Skillsday’s Teach on Mars portal, which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play. For more information, e-mail us at contact@teachonmars.com.
